LGBTQ characters and queer representation in musical theatre: 'Fantasies Come True' is a new book by Dr James Lovelock that explores some of the queer characters that have inhabited musical theatre over the past ten years.

The book covers more than forty musicals with LGBTQ* characters and draws on interviews with over one hundred musical theatre industry practitioners including Beth Malone, Layton Williams, L Morgan Lee and Andy Mientus. Each chapter looks at a different 'queer' experience including coming out, establishing chosen family, finding queer spaces and negotiating queer relationships.
